Good read for either a hot, or a rainy day
A brief review of Battle Surgeons: Star Wars Legends (Medstar, Book I) by Michael Reaves and Steve Perry
Plot: a planet the author conceived as a Vietnam in steroids is home to a mobile military hospital, a *M.A.S.H. staffed by people of little humor. The planet itself is a war front between the Galactic Republic and the Separatists. Hospital personnel therein specialize in patching up clone troopers. Enter a young Jedi Padawan gifted with healing powers, a tired surgeon, a jaded reporter, and a coterie of ruffians, corrupt officials, and a galactic mafia and you get an explosive mixture. The result is a long, depressing consideration of waste and loss in war.
